Dalian Natural History Museum

　　The predecessor of Dalian Natural History Museum was first built in 1907. After several changes, the name Dalian Natural History Museum was determined in 1959. Dalian Natural History Museum is a comprehensive natural science museum that collects, studies, and exhibits specimens of geology, ancient organisms, animals and plants, with over 200 thousand specimens. Dalian Natural History Museum is National First Class Museum, National AAAA Tourist Attraction, National Science Popularization Education Base, National Wildlife Protection Popularization Education Base and Liaoning Province Patriotism Education Base, enjoying high popularity domestically and internationally.

　　Dalian Natural History Museum currently has 10 permanent exhibition halls, with a total exhibition area of 8 thousand square meters and over 5100 specimens exhibited. The predominant collections are marine animals, quaternary paleontological fossils of Dalian, fossils of Western Liaoning, wildlife of Northeastern China and animals of Africa. Bearing the theme “Nature and Human”, the exhibitions focus on revealing the interrelationship between human, other organisms and the environment, emphasizing the concept of coexistence of human and nature that “Nature and human live in harmony, our surroundings and us share the same fate”. Meanwhile, besides exhibitions and science popularization projects themed “Biological Diversity” and “Harmony of Human and Nature”, the museum also hosts multiple temporary exhibitions with extensive content as well as hundreds of science popularization activities, exerting great influence on the popularization of natural science knowledge and promotion of scientific attainment for the public.

　　大连自然博物馆前身始建于1907年。几经易名，1959年正式定名为大连自然博物馆。大连自然博物馆是集地质、古生物、动物、植物标本收藏、研究、展示于一体的综合性自然科学博物馆，馆藏标本20余万件。大连自然博物馆是国家一级博物馆、国家四A级旅游景区、全国科普教育基地、全国野生动物保护科普教育基地、辽宁省爱国主义教育基地，在国内外享有很高的知名度。

　　大连自然博物馆现有常设展厅10个，展览面积近8千平方米，展示标本5100多件。海洋生物，大连第四纪古生物化石，辽西化石，东北野生动植物，非洲动物为展示特色。基本陈列以“自然与人”为主题，注重揭示人类、生物、环境的相互依存关系，强调“天人共泰、物我同舟”的人与自然共生存的理念。同时，以“生物多样性”、“人与自然相和谐”为主题举办专题展览、科普活动，每年还举办多个内容丰富的临时展览，以及数百场科普活动，在对广大观众进行自然科学普及教育和科学素养提升方面发挥了巨大作用。
