The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture

　　The Museum of Chinese Gardens and Landscape Architecture (MCGALA), located at the foot of Yingshan Mountain in Fengtai District of

, is the first national museum of its kind in China. The construction was started in 2010, and the museum was opened in May, 2013. Covering an area of 65,000㎡ and a floor space of 49,950㎡, the museum consists of the main building, indoor gardens and outdoor exhibition areas. The main building offers 28,200㎡ for exhibition. As a permanent public cultural venue, MCGALA is an international cultural center for collecting historical garden relics, carrying forward Chinese traditional culture, displaying the charm of garden art and studying the value of gardens. The main service targets of the MCGALA are the general public, primary and middle school students, domestic and foreign tourists, and garden and landscape specialists. It also serves to fully display the long history, brilliant culture and multiple functions of Chinese garden and landscape architecture. Built on the principle of "Chinese Gardens, Ideal Homes," the MCGALA is designed to display and carry out the art of garden and landscape architecture, promote traditional Chinese culture and witness the revitalization of the Chinese nation.

　　中国园林博物馆是中国第一座以园林为主题的国家级博物馆，占地面积6.5万平方米，以“中国园林——我们的理想家园”为建馆理念，是收藏园林特色文物、研究园林历史价值、展示园林艺术魅力、弘扬中国优秀传统文化的公益性文化机构，是全面展示中国园林悠久历史、灿烂文化、多元功能以及辉煌成就的重要窗口，被誉为“有生命”的博物馆。

　　中国园林博物馆以展厅、室内展园和室外展区为主要构成。其中展厅包括中国古代园林厅、中国近现代园林厅两个基本陈列，世界名园博览厅、中国园林文化厅、中国造园技艺厅和园林互动体验厅四个专题陈列。室内展园撷取南方园林菁华，建有畅园、余荫山房、片石山房三处园林景观。室外展区按地形特点分别由塔影别苑、染霞山房、半亩轩榭三处北方园林组成，形成园内有馆、馆内有园的独特风貌。全馆展示各类植物、山石，体现了中国传统园林的多样性，收藏有陶器等16类藏品，所属年代跨度大，较为完整地展示了中国园林的发展脉络。

　　作为全国科普教育基地、全国中小学生研学实践教育基地、北京市科普基地、首都科普主题研学基地、“红领巾爱首都”北京市少先队校外实践教育基地和北京市民终身学习示范基地。馆内设有秘密花园园林生态体验区、科学创意实验室、公众教育中心、园林创艺工坊4处教学专区。面向园林行业高校开设“入学第一课”，是多所高等院校的教学实践基地。与国内各大文博单位建立密切联系，和多个国家在展览和学术交流等方面开展了多形式的合作。
